StickSquad
A crew of stickmen who live on your desktop, get into trouble, and quietly
keep you on track.
Up to five stickmen walk along your taskbar, climb the edges of your screen,
hang from the top, sit on your window title bars and use your desktop icons as
furniture. They play tag, have high-five contests, throw each other about, draw
themselves a ball or a set of monkey bars, and each has its own dance.
They also talk. Click one and it opens a little chat box. The AI runs on your
own computer — StickSquad ships with its own model, so there is nothing to
sign up for and nothing to pay monthly.
What they can do
- Talk and remember. Each stickman has its own personality, its own voice,
and its own memory of your conversations. You can read and delete everything
it remembers.
- Voice. Talk to them out loud and they answer aloud, each in its own voice,
with their mouths moving. The voices run on your computer.
- Play with them. Click to chat, right-click to poke, wiggle to tickle,
stroke to pet, pick one up and throw it. Drop a file on one and it reads it.
- Remind you. “Remind me to drink water every 2 hours”, “every weekday at
9”, or a quick “5 minute timer”. They say it out loud when it is time.
- Focus with you. Start a focus session and the whole crew sits down and
works beside you, with gentle, guilt-free break nudges.
- Keep your list on the screen. Add a to-do and a stickman walks over and
sticks it up as a note; tick it off and one crosses it out. Keeps in step with
Google Tasks if you like.
- Keep you company while you work, and stay out of the way — they go quiet
during Do Not Disturb and step aside for anything fullscreen.
- Play. Fights, tag, hide and seek, penalty shootouts, conga lines and
dance-offs with a disco ball. How much mischief they get up to is a setting,
from “off” to “chaotic”.
- Share them. Record a few seconds of what they are up to as a video, or
send one of your stickmen to a friend’s desktop for a day as a postcard.
- Make your own. Personalities, dances and outfits are simple files in a
mods folder.
- React to your Twitch chat (optional). Viewers’ messages appear over your
stickmen, subs and raids get a celebration, and your chat can set them off
with
!dance. No Twitch login needed.
- Do real work (optional). Connect Google or Microsoft (Outlook) and they
can draft and send email, read and add calendar events, give you a heads-up
before a meeting with a Join button, and work with files you pick. Anything
that sends or changes something asks you first.
- Small chores. “Tidy my downloads” sorts files into folders (shown to you
first, and undone in one sentence). A researcher for students finds and cites
sources — and never writes the essay. A language buddy teaches a word a day.
Private by default
- The AI runs locally. Your conversations do not leave your computer.
- With nothing configured, StickSquad makes no network connections at all —
there is an automated test that fails the build if it ever does.
- No account, no sign-up, no analytics, no telemetry, no ads.
- Everything it stores is in your own user folder, and you can see and delete
all of it from inside the app.
